Curriculum

beehive 3

I will be updating this page weekly to inform you of the skills and objectives your student will be learning in the classroom. I may also give you some ideas to assist your child with these skills at home.

Our classroom blog is up and running. Your student will have  his username written in the front of his/her agenda on Tuesday.  The password is his/her lunch number. You need to use your students information in order to view the class’s work. Students have published some writing pieces. They are also observing the progression of their brassica plant and recording thier observations. Our blog can be found at: http://kidblog.org/BarasBeehive/

Math

Students are at the tail end of the fractions unit. Students are currently working on probability using fractions, determining equivalent fractions, and making organized lists in a permutation and combination.

Reading

Students are exploring the difference between a fact and an opinion. Students will be locating fact and opinions in their reading as well as create their own fact and opinion sentences.

Next students will work on making connections to a text. This is an important skill to review because it is important in building prior knowledge and networking the new information for comprehension.

Students will continue working on test taking skills in a multiple choice situation.
